About the BIAWA

The Boating Industry Association’s aim is to help the marine industry and it does this by assisting in the daily running of Member’s businesses through advice and services and also by lobbying to ensure a long and viable future for the industry.
You may have already heard of the Association or seen its logo displayed on our Member’s businesses. The Association is not just for marine dealerships or repairers as is a common misconception, but for any business associated with the marine industry. The Membership base of the BIA is varied and covers a huge cross section of the industry.
The BIAWA represents owners and business principals in the marine industry throughout WA.
The BIA's highly-regarded Code of Ethics is the basis for the public's confidence when they trade with a BIA member, it is a landmark statement that sets out the standard of behaviour BIA members must follow in their dealings with the public.
BIA's advertising and promotional activities over many years have developed a public recognition of its logo to the point where people look for the BIA logo before choosing a business from which they will purchase a boat or have a boat repaired or serviced or purchase spare parts.
In the state sphere the BIA is strongly placed to represent the interests of its members. The BIA is in constant contact with politicians and Government officials and regularly provides advice to them on matters affecting the industry.

Membership Types

Members are divided into four types:

Ordinary Members –  Any sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or division thereof that derives its principle source of revenue from the retail sales, wholesale distribution, manufacturer or assembly of recreational marine products and marine services.

Ordinary members are entitled to all rights and privileges of the Association.

Associate Members - To be considered for our Associate Industry Membership category, the business must provide support services to Marine Industry members and/or the boating public.  These businesses must exemplify professionalism, minimum codes of conduct and must represent themselves as upstading ambassadors for the Marine Industry.

Association members are entitled to limited rights and priviledges of the Association and are not elegible to hold office or vote at the General Meeting.
