About The Boating Industry Association of WA (BIAWA)
The Boating Industry Association of Western Australia (BIAWA) is the leading voice of the recreational boating industry in Western Australia. Our purpose is to promote, support and advocate for safe boating and aquatic recreation across the state.
Established in 1971, BIAWA is an incorporated industry association representing businesses, organisations and individuals involved in recreational boating and light commercial marine industries. We work for the benefit of our members, retail consumers and the wider boating community.
BIAWA works collaboratively with other Boating Associations around Australia and is connected internationally through the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), ensuring Western Australia’s boating industry is represented at both national and global levels.
We provide a trusted forum for industry discussion and collaboration, and act as a respected point of contact for government, media and the public. A key focus of our work is advocacy—campaigning for improved boating infrastructure and facilities throughout Western Australia to meet the growing needs of the state’s boat owners.
BIAWA also delivers a high-quality program of professional development, helping members build capability, knowledge and long-term success within the industry.
Our members represent all sectors of the recreational boating and light commercial marine industry, including manufacturers, retailers, brokers, importers and exporters, distributors, boat builders and shipwrights, mechanical repairers, boat lifters, yacht clubs, community organisations, financial and insurance providers, and a wide range of boating, fishing and aquatic sports service providers.
