ANZSBEG - Promoting Safe and Responsible Boating

The Australia New Zealand Safe Boating Education Group (ANZSBEG) brings together industry, government and safety organisations to identify national recreational boating safety issues and address them through coordinated education and awareness initiatives.

ANZSBEG’s primary objective is to collaborate on water safety education that helps reduce recreational boating incidents, injuries and fatalities across the Australian and New Zealand boating communities. By sharing knowledge, research and best practice, the group provides a valuable forum for cooperation and continuous improvement in boating safety outcomes.

The group brings together those responsible for the implementation of government policy on boating safety, those with a responsibility for the implementation of national/ international safety standards, small craft search and rescue and those that have direct communication links with recreational boaters.

ANZSBEG representatives from governments across Australia and New Zealand.

Oversight and Structure
The goals of ANZSBEG are to:

1. Share information, data and statistics on recreational boating;
2. Facilitate and support best practice in recreational boating safety education;
3. Develop and support consistent national safety messages founded on evidence-based analysis; and
4. Promote a culture of safe, enjoyable and responsible boating.
