Approved Professionals

Our commitment to quality

“We take great care in selecting and appointing Approved Marine Professionals, so boat owners can choose with confidence. Not every repairer qualifies, only those who meet BIAWA’s strict standards are approved to join our network.”

Becoming a BIAWA Approved Marine Professional

To be considered for approval, a business must:

  • Operate from suitable premises with the facilities and equipment required to deliver high-quality marine repairs and servicing
  • Employ appropriately qualified and experienced marine tradespeople
  • Agree to comply with the BIAWA Code of Practice and Code of Conduct
  • Participate in regular reviews and inspections, including ongoing audits of business operations and premises

Approval is not a one-off achievement—it must be continually earned.

Why choose a BIAWA Approved Professional?

BIAWA Approved Marine Professionals are committed to professionalism, transparency and high standards of workmanship. To maintain their approved status, they must:

  • Guarantee the quality of their workmanship
  • Maintain fair and transparent pricing policies
  • Clearly explain required versus recommended work
  • Keep equipment, facilities and qualifications up to date
  • Successfully pass regular BIAWA audits

Approved Professionals range from general marine repairers to highly specialised technicians, all assessed against the same rigorous standards.

Where there are concerns about workmanship or compliance, a BIAWA liaison officer may conduct an independent review and work with both the customer and the repairer to help resolve the issue fairly and efficiently.

Enquire to Become an Approved Professional

Applicants seeking appointment as a BIAWA Approved Marine Professional are required to review and acknowledge the BIAWA Code of Conduct in full prior to submitting an application. Approval is contingent upon the applicant’s agreement to comply with the Code and to conduct their business in accordance with its provisions at all times.

All BIAWA Approved Marine Professionals are bound by this Code of Conduct as a condition of their ongoing approval. The Code establishes minimum standards of professional behaviour, ethical practice, workmanship and consumer engagement, and is enforced by BIAWA to maintain confidence in the Approved Marine Professionals Program.
